Get professional performance at a low price with used golf sets

A used golf set is the most sensible way into the world of golf – both for your wallet and for the environment.

You get premium equipment without the premium price, and if you choose wisely, you can play almost as well as with a new set. But how do you assess quality, condition, and price? And when does it make sense to invest in a complete set rather than assembling your own?

Why choose a used golf set?

Because you get more golf for your money. A complete golf set typically consists of driver, fairway wood, hybrid, iron sets, wedge, and putter – in other words, everything you need to drive, navigate down the fairway, and finish securely on the green.

New sets can easily cost over 10,000 DKK. A comparable used set in good condition can be found for 3,000–5,000 DKK at  WePlayAgain.dk.

The equipment works just as it should, as the quality of modern golf clubs lasts for many years. According to international analyses, used equipment typically sells for 40–60% of the new price – but with identical performance if the condition has been properly checked.

Additionally, the sustainable benefit is undeniable. Buying used saves both CO₂ and resources, as the equipment has a longer lifespan. As a bonus, you keep alive products that have already proven their worth.

It's good for the planet and for your conscience.

How we assess the condition of a used set

We describe all products precisely as they are. This means that you can always see honest pictures of the head, shaft, and grip. But if you want to learn to assess the condition yourself, here are some clear guidelines:

Head: Scratches on the sole and impact marks on the face are normal. The most important thing is that the edge is not broken.

Shaft (metal or graphite): Look for dents or cracks. Graphite shafts can get damages that are nearly invisible – roll them on a table to spot any bend.

Grip: If the surface feels smooth or sticky, it needs to be replaced. A new grip typically costs 60–100 DKK per club.

We classify the condition as "Like New", "Good", or "Okay". Everything in the category  Good  or better plays exactly like new. Only the cosmetic appearance changes.

Want to see how we describe the condition? Check for example in our  Iron Set collection  – here you get descriptions and unique pictures of each set.

Complete set or mix your own?

The classic question. A  complete set  is the easy way for beginners. Here, all the clubs match in length, weight, and balance. Check our collection of  Complete Sets  – they are thoroughly reviewed and ready to play, and you avoid mixing different models.

If you already have experience, you might consider assembling your own set. Perhaps you have a favorite driver but lack the rest. Here, you can freely choose between  Driver, Fairway Wood, Hybrid and Putter  to get precisely the combination that you play best with.

Are you in doubt? A rule of thumb:
If you have been playing for less than a year and are still testing your swing style – then choose a complete set.
If you have control over distances, tempo, and preferences – then build your own.

What do flex, loft and length actually mean?

Golf equipment may seem technical, but it doesn't have to be.

Flex: It describes how much the shaft bends in your swing. If you have a low swing speed, try Regular or Ladies Flex. Higher swing speeds are better matched with Stiff or X-Stiff. Check out our Driver Regular Flex or Driver Stiff Flex to see the difference.

Loft: It is the angle of the clubface. A higher loft (10.5–12°) helps the ball get airborne and provides distance for you with a low swing speed. A lower loft (8.5–10°) gives flatter, more powerful shots for advanced players.

Length: Standard fits most between 170–185 cm. If you are significantly taller or shorter, customization can provide better control.

Used golf sets for beginners, advanced players, and ladies

Many ask: Is there an ideal set for my level? The answer is yes – if you look for the right details.

Beginners: Start with a forgiving set (that is, clubs with larger heads and softer shafts). You will hit better, and the game will be more enjoyable. Check out our Beginner's package here.

Advanced: If you have control over your contact, you can move towards smaller heads and stiff shafts. This provides more precision but requires a stable swing. Check out our Iron sets under 2000 kr. for good upgrades at a fair price.

Ladies: Swing speeds are typically lower, so Regular or Ladies Flex is the safe choice. For example, try Driver Ladies Flex combined with light hybrids – it provides easy ball launch and stable distance.

What do you save concretely by buying used?

Let's take a concrete example: A new Callaway Rogue iron set costs around 7,000 kr. A corresponding used set in Good condition at WePlayAgain typically ranges between 3,200–3,800 kr – thus a savings of 45–50 %.

Additionally, you can find complete used sets with a bag for 2,000–2,500 kr – perfect for new golfers who need everything from the start.

Market data shows that used equipment holds about half of the original price after three years, and many models even increase in demand when new generations push good classics out of the stores.

A little tip: Buy outside of peak season. Prices typically drop 10–20% from November to February – and the selection is still large.

Environment and sustainability – golf the green way

Golf can actually be greener than you think. When you choose used, you save CO₂, as there is no need to cast new heads, cast shafts, or transport new steel across continents.

Each reused iron set saves an average of 12–15 kg of CO₂ in production and transport compared to new. That may not sound like much, but imagine 10,000 players doing this every year – it adds up quickly.

For us, sustainability is not just a bonus. We buy and sell directly in Denmark, and all equipment is inspected locally. This reduces transport and makes the whole process more circular.

How to pressure test a used set

If you want to be absolutely sure that the purchase suits you, you have a 14-day trial period. You can therefore test the set on the range and on the course and return it if it doesn’t feel right.

When you test the equipment, pay attention to three things:

  1. Ball flight: Does the ball reach the height you desire? Too low = too stiff a shaft. Too high = too soft a shaft.
  2. Contact: Are you hitting the center of the face? If not, the length can be adjusted.
  3. Feel: Does the shot feel solid and smooth in your hands? If the vibrations are too harsh, a different shaft material may help.

If in doubt, send us a message via Contact Us page. We will help you with honest feedback, so you’re not fumbling in the dark.

Sell your old equipment to create space and value

When you upgrade your set, the old one doesn’t need to gather dust in the garage. You can easily sell it back to us via Sell used golf equipment. We assess the condition, give a fair price, and either buy for cash or as trade-in value.

Some choose to combine the sale with our Trade-in Event, where we visit golf clubs and trade equipment on-site. It’s both enjoyable and practical, and you often get better trade-in value than on open marketplaces.

The equipment behind a set – a bit about the types

It helps to know the roles of the clubs. Here are the most important:

Driver: Hits the longest. Typically 9–12 degrees loft. Available in several variants – for example, Driver X-Stiff Flex for high speed or Driver Regular Flex for medium swing speed.

Fairway Wood: Provides distance from the grass or tee. See our Fairway Woods.

Hybrid: Easier to hit than long irons – a good choice from 150–180 meters. Take a look at our Hybrid category.

Iron set: The backbone of the game. From short pitch shots to controlled mid-distance shots. See the Iron Set collection.

Wedge & Chipper: For the fine play around the green – high precision at short distances. See Wedge & Chipper.

Putter: Your putter. Here it's all about balance and feel. See Putters.

Practical tips before you buy

A little checklist before you hit buy:

  • Check images and condition description carefully. Ask if anything is unclear.
  • Look for a return policy (with us: 14 days).
  • Keep an eye on whether the set is suitable for right- or left-handed players.
  • Compare loft and flex with your current clubs, so you know where the difference lies.
  • Make sure you also have a good golf bag and maybe an extra set golf balls – it makes everything a bit more fun from the start.

Golf is about comfort and trust

Many are still a bit unsure about used equipment. That's why we are open about everything: You always see realistic pictures, precise descriptions, and well-known brands in good condition. We do not edit the images, and each club is checked for both function and aesthetics.

Each item has been in the hands of an experienced golfer before it lands in the shop. This ensures that you get exactly what is described. And with a 14-day trial period and a 2-year warranty, you play with confidence – regardless of your level.

More play and less worry

A used golf set gives you the same joy of playing as a new one. You save money, think green, and get quality that has been tested in practice.

If you're a beginner, start with a complete set. If you want to develop, build further with drivers, hybrids, or wedges that suit your style. With us, you can always find inspiration under Just Added, where fresh items are continuously coming online.

Still in doubt about condition, flex or loft? Write to us via Contact Us page. We respond honestly – even if it means you wait a bit before buying.

Golf should feel right from the first shot. And with the right used golf set, it does just that: It feels good, healthy for the budget, and nice for the conscience.

Check out the selection and play with peace of mind.
