Cobra developed the face based on thousands of real golf shots. They found that the vast majority of shots are struck in an elliptical pattern across the hitting area. That is why the striking zone is designed accordingly.
The result? More consistent ball flight and solid distance – even on mishits.

The cut-away perimeter saves weight in the crown and moves it lower and farther back in the head. That increases MOI and gives you:
