What is a clubhead and why does it matter so much?
In short: the clubhead is the part of the golf club that strikes the ball. Its shape, weight, and material directly influence how the ball flies – high, low, straight, or with draw/fade.
A heavier head often provides more control, while a lighter head can give extra speed. The size (measured in “cc” – cubic centimeters) determines how forgiving the shot feels if you hit slightly off-center.
A small tip: If you have a lower swing speed, look for a head with a slightly higher loft. It helps the ball in the air and gives longer distance.
The difference between types of golf clubheads
There are several types of clubheads – each with its own function.
- Driver heads: large, light, and designed to provide distance from the tee. Check out our drivers here.
- Fairway heads: slightly smaller and lower loft, allowing you to hit far from both tee and fairway. See our Fairway Woods.
- Hybrid heads: combine the precision of irons with the forgiveness of woods – a perfect choice if you want easier shots from uneven lies. Check our hybrid category.
- Iron heads: more compact, requiring precision and providing control. See both iron sets and iron sets under 2000 kr..
- Wedge & Chipper: shorter heads with high loft for play around the green. Get an overview in wedge and chipper categories.
- Putter heads: for the last centimeters on the green – it’s all about feel. See them here: Putters.
If you’re unsure where to start, go for a Hybrid. It helps most golfers achieve more consistent shots.
What to look for when buying used clubheads
When you buy used, the condition is more important than anything else. We always describe precisely how each head looks – both cosmetic and functional.
- Like new: Minimal or no use. The surface is clean, the striking surface is intact.
- Good: Light cosmetic wear, but full functionality.
- Okay: Clearly used wear, but a solid training or backup option.
- Worn: Mostly for practice – the price reflects the condition.
We take unique pictures so you can see exactly the item you will receive. Additionally, you get a 14-day trial period and a 2-year warranty – no surprises.
Should you choose steel or titanium?
The material affects both weight and feel.
- Titanium is most often used in drivers and fairways. It is light, strong, and provides high ball speed.
- Steel is typically found in irons and hybrids. It provides a more stable and controlled feel.
Do you want to feel the difference? Visit the section for driver heads or fairway heads – then you can see examples of both materials.
A small tip: If you find the titanium feel too "hollow" or too light, try a steel version with a bit more weight – many players experience better rhythm there.
What suits your level and swing?
Here are some simple rules of thumb:
- New players: choose large heads with high MOI (moment of inertia). This makes them more forgiving on off-center hits. Start with a complete set – see Complete Set here or Beginner Package.
- Experienced players: choose heads with lower loft and smaller profiles for better control.
- High swing speed: consider stiffer shafts along with an appropriate head. For example, see Driver Stiff Flex or Driver X-Stiff Flex.
You can also combine your used head with a new shaft – see our selection of golf shafts and fairway shafts.

Get the most out of your club head
A few quick tips that can extend its lifespan:
- Clean the face regularly – dirt affects the ball's spin.
- Use headcover (see our golf headcovers) to avoid scratches.
- Check the grip and shaft. every now and then – you can always find new grips or hybrid shaft with us.
A little tip: When the head feels heavy or unbalanced, it is often because the shaft no longer matches your swing rhythm. We are happy to help find the right combination.
